Jaguar E-Type 4.2 Two plus Two Coupe.
The Jaguar was first registered in 1970, with just three owners from new, the last owner,a retired engineer purchased the car some 31 years ago ,during his careful ownership the car has covered just over 3,000 miles, the total mileage now stands at a genuine 84,183. There are supporting invoices and previous M.O.T,s dating back to the mid 70,s. During the 80,s the Jaguar was maintained by Norman Motors Ltd of Mill Lane London, famous Jaguar and Daimler Dealers. Subsequently, the engineer owner preferring to maintain the car himself, purchasing parts as required from Jaguar specialists, Martin Robey and S.C Parts. Just prior to the sale of the Jaguar the car was treated to a top end engine overhaul to include an un-leaded conversion. Finished in the most attractive colour scheme of Sable with Biscuit Hide and contrasting carpets. This Jaguar oozes quality in its unrestored condition, little chips that have been touched in over the years show traces of the original factory applied red oxide primer showing through in the odd place. This is what sets this Jaguar E-Type apart from others on offer today, its a proper old Jag, looks right, smells right and drives right. Originaly supplied from the factory on steel wheels, the Jaguar now boasts a sporting set of genuine Minilite wheels ( 5 ) , sitting on correct Dunlop SP Sport Radial Tyres. On the road the Jaguar drives superbly, making all the right sounds, magnificent. Inside the cabin, the original Wood rim steering wheel is suitably aged and looks just right, the lovely array of rocker switches and those wonderful line of instruments, along with the large Rev counter and Speedo remind you that this is a special place to sit, the original leather seats are in superb condition, a new carpet set being fitted some years ago complete the picture. The paint work holds a fabulous deep shine, standing at the rear of the Jaguar, i was fascinated how over the years the original number plate is stained with black exhaust gases, seems a shame to clean it off. Many hours will be required of careful cleaning to remove 40 years of road grime, grease and oil that has accumulated, but when finished someone is going to have so much pleasure from this car.
