Sunbeam Talbot 10 Sports Tourer.

Welcome to the sale of " Scarlet " a 1947 Sunbeam 10 Tourer, finished in Talbot Tartan Red, Black Hood with a stunning Olive Green Hide Interior. The standard of the car is quite exceptional, mirror finish paint work, beautiful crystal clear instruments and a just gorgeous interior. There is history going back to 1969 and also the buff log book and green continuation log book. In January 1983 the then current owner of the Sunbeam a Mr.E.H.Morgan approached Stanleys Coach Builders of Peterborough to determain if it would be feasible to restore the car. In the history file a letter from Stanleys confirms upon inspection that the prognosis at this stage was very good. The restoration was authorised at a rate of £7.50 per hour with an expected estimate of £3500.00  to £4000.00 for the finished job. The payments were to be paid to Stanleys as work commenced ( 7 stages of work ) . However by March 1985 the restoration was still ongoing and way over the original estimate. A letter confirms that the hourly rate charge would be reduced to £5.00 per hour. Unfortunatly a disagreement in Stanlys led to the closure of the business and the Sunbeam was taken to A.F.Smith and Son, Coach builders also of Peterborough. The quality of workmanship shines through to this day, even the doors close with a satisfying coach built clunk. This car is one the " Roesch Talbots " and is featured in the Rootes Side Valve Car Register 1936- 1948, a mint original book is included in the sale. Included in the sale are many period books and a original bakelite handle used to open the boot and spare wheel housing. We supplied this motor car two years ago, during the last owners care a full maintenance and up-grade package has been professionaly performed, invoices on file in for excess of £9500.00, a detailed  description is available of these works, car arrives next week.
